Above the power lines
That droop from old, leaning poles.
But in Namtok
Speech drains strength,
And the mind hangs mute
As mountains stretch
Their trees and cliffs
Into the blank of blue
Known as space and sky.
Butterflies are legion here,
Cats slink about warily,
And the dog asleep at my feet
Found a friend, wordlessly.
Like the woman who sold me this beer,
The entire village hums and hovers:
Indecipherable.
This is peace.
